I found this guide online, and I find it really useful. It explains developmental stages in clear terms, and also includes sections about the ways that child abuse can affect development, and has a page with effective parenting strategies for each developmental stage.
It is really well organized, and because it is aimed at least in part at foster parents, many of the strategies they suggest are likely to also be useful in helping our own child parts.
Who says there is anything wrong with being crazy, anyhow?
